Your Carpet Knows
More Than
You Think
A Surat homeowner's guide to what's living in your fibres.
What your carpet
actually absorbs
A single gram of Kashmiri wool pile can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture before you feel dampness underfoot. In Surat's June-to-September humidity, that's a mould nursery you're walking across every morning.

Why dish soap destroys
silk carpet binding
Silk fibres are protein-based. Alkaline cleaners above pH 7.5 break down the sericin coating, causing irreversible stiffening and colour loss.

Surat's monsoon window
maps to mould growth
Relative humidity above 65% sustained for 72 hours creates ideal conditions for Aspergillus mould in carpet pile. Surat averages 85%+ RH from June through September.

A handknotted Kashmiri carpet — 340 knots/sq inch, 100% silk warp. One monsoon without cleaning can cause permanent pile distortion.
Gujarat's most common
carpet stains, ranked
Each stain has a chemistry. Treat turmeric with cold water and you set the curcumin permanently. Scrub paan with a brush and you push alkaloids deeper into the pile. The intervention window is shorter than most people realise.
Tannins + Milk Protein
Curcumin (photosensitive)
Aspergillus niger spores
Erucic acid + pigments
Betel nut alkaloids
Surat specific: Haldi from Diwali puja and chai from daily chai-pe-charcha are the two stains we treat most in Athwa and Vesu homes. Neither responds to home treatment once dry.
The drying phase
is where most cleaners fail
A carpet cleaned but dried incorrectly is worse than one never cleaned. Residual moisture in the backing layer — invisible from above — will grow Aspergillus mould within 72 hours in Surat's humidity. Our truck-mounted rig extracts 94% of moisture on-site.
Pre-inspection & fibre ID
We identify knot count, pile material, dye type, and backing before touching it.
pH-matched pre-soak
Wool gets pH 6.5 solution. Silk gets pH 5.5. Jute gets dry-compound only. No guessing.
Truck-mounted hot-water extraction
200-psi rinse pulls soil from base to tip — not just surface-level cleaning.
Controlled forced-air drying
Carpets dry in 4–6 hours in our facility. Wet carpets left overnight grow mould by morning.
Data Chart · Surat RH vs Mould Threshold
Relative humidity
above 65% = mould risk
Surat's annual humidity chart mapped against the 65% threshold where mould begins colonising carpet backing. Six months of the year, your carpet is at risk.

The test most homeowners skip: Press a dry white cloth to your carpet backing after any cleaning service. If it comes away damp, the carpet will mould within 3 days.
